my name is Bodo and i am glad to have found you all. Recently i joined the San Francisco Gem and Mineral Society which is a fine club with great facilities and tons of friendly gnomes, rock hounds and other knowledgeable people. I am a semi retired Waldorf Teacher working with home schooling children of all ages. more here: pinemountainarts.org
we do a lot of hands on environmental studies, beekeeping, following the salmon research which is happening here and just spending time in nature. Forging and smithing iron, copper and silver is another part of our programs.
Having been born near the German coast i have always looked for and worked with Baltic Amber and developed over time a deep love for other rocks and minerals, which i am sharing now with the children who find their way up here to pine mountain. In the context of our local geography we started to look for agates, Jasper and fossils on the local beaches between San Francisco and Monterey, but that seems to be rapidly expanding. rocks , gems and minerals seem to pull one into their ban and soon you find yourself crawling all over the world with your nose in the dirt.
anyway............. here we go, nice to meet you all. Bodo
