just a quick reminder that the stone has to be totally submerged and not touching the sides or bottom of the container of water. good luck with the retest.

Ya, I had trouble finding a container that was large enough and not too large to make the scale error out.  I might just wait till I get my trim saw set up.

my little scale goes to 5 kg. and is surprisingly accurate for $19. I tested it on some calibrated weights and it's good to 2 dicimal points which is where the calibrated weights probably fall off too.

OK, basics are all done.

Just needs proper cleanup, bamboo sticks have gotten to big, so will have to look around for tooth-picks to go forward from here. :)

I weigh it a different way using the 0 ing feature on the scale
first I weigh the rock= 356

Then i put my water container on the scale and 0 it.

then i suspend the rock completely covered in the water not touching the bottom or sides= 108 : for smaller peices I use lighter string or fish line

devide the dry weight by the wet weight
356/108=3.296
this just takes the constant; weight of water and container, out of the picture
