A while back I read an article on this subject. The problem was tightening the multiple leather cords. In the article the lady used two nails hammered into a wooden board. I tried that and found it difficult to work with. I asked my husband if he could come up with something. Below is his solution.
Ray always came up with a solution and would do just about anything for me.
The leather end is tied to the circle hook, then wrapped to the opposite hook. This is done to however many wraps of leather you desire. Tighten the leather then tie off the other end to the hook. I used 2mm leather cord.
Notice the multiple holes Ray added. Giving you the option of different size necklace cord.
Using a thinner leather cord 1mm or less to do the end wraps.
Make a loop and wrap five to six times.
Slide the end trough and into the loop.
Pull evenly on both ends.
Small amount of E600 placed where knot will set.
A set of pliers makes it easier to tighten the knot.
Use snips to cut excess leather cord as close as possible.
Permanent black magic marker to hide tan leather.
Example of finished look.
Thank you Ray for making this job easier.
