Greetings and salutations
« on: April 05, 2016, 09:39:18 AM »
My handle is ryaly2dogs and I am a newbie to this blog.  I hail from Santa Barbara, CA and am a hydrogeologist by trade (nearly 30 years now) but rockhound by passion.  I was bitten at a young age with a grandpa who had a magic workshop in Portland, OR filled with saws, grinder/polishers, and glass fusing and faceting facilities.  I have gone to rock shows since as far back as I can remember but took the plunge last year and joined a local mineral club.  I really enjoy the field trips, learning from the greatest generation, and of course taking the bootie home and working with it via slabs and cabs.

I enjoy perusing the blogs and the various subjects.  Keep 'em coming, I've picked up a lot of most excellent tips.  Carpe Diem.

Welcome from a "neighbor" just down the coast in Camarillo.  There's much to learn here.

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I have found that rockhounds are some of the most grounded and friendliest of folks you can ever hope to meet.  Here's to meeting you all some day.
