Using an Oil to make a Cabachon Shine
« on: April 03, 2016, 05:42:33 PM »
Hi all. I seem to be having trouble with some of the slabs I have.  They will not take a nice polish or shine. I do not have a leather polishing wheel yet but is there some kind of oil I can put on these cabs to make them shine? I heard about baby oil.  Is there anything else?

Thank You

Oil won't help.  Post some photos so we can see the stone and texture.  It is tough to give advice without more information.....   walker23

Try something called Opticon. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OPTICON-FRACTURE-SEALER-HARDENER-LAPIDARY-8-FL-OZ-RESIN-No-224-NEW-/130807766726

Or something cheaper like clear spray paint, or a clear varnish.

Any tile distributor will have enhancer for stone. That would be a great place to start.

The hardness of the stone will help. If you have a tumbler you can them in it and polish them. if they are hard enough.
