Thought you might think this was interesting.  I got the map out of National Geographic and I put in some well known sites. Maybe it should go in a different section in the Forum? but...anyway.  If you know some other sites that should be put on here point it out and let me know.

Phillip, I had seen that map a couple of years ago, or so. Neat how you had placed the agates and such on it!

That whole caldera system up in Yellowstone must of had an influence on the gem deposits. Good for us rockhounds!! That caldera is massive and as we all know is still active. Makes you think..... when will it blow up again. The plate tectonics in the area must have shifted a lot of things around.  Very neat Philip!

what is really interesting about that map is the Oregon sunstone area is right where the yellow stone caldera series starts

I understand that Gary Green Jasper comes from somewhere near McDermitt, NV, though I don't know whether it is a single site or a wide area.
