I getting ready to do some centrifugal lost wax casting and I have new, as in never used, crucible. I have heard that you need to "break them in" before you use them for casting. My best guess is that you use Borax to do this. But how much and how to finish the process I have no Idea. Can anyone give a clue or something on how it is done?   saved13

Our Place / Happy Canada Day

To all our friends up north HAPPY CANADA DAY yippie24

Just saw this one ebay.

if you like orange scented coolant.

I'm beginning to work Fire Agate and was wondering what everyone's preference is? Grinding wheel method or with a flex shaft?
If it is a flex shaft how do you keep the bur and stone cool. With a drip? and if so how fast? Do you work with it in a short of a tub or what?

Hoping for some guidance from those with more experience with Fire Agate than I have.
Do you have a reference guide?

This is Wednesday with not much to do so OK, out with it, what do you call your work area? Shop? Studio? or does it depend on what you are doing, such as sawing, cabbing, or setting stones or wire wrapping? Phase of the moon, day of the week? or are you like me and change depending on the minute.
