Hi there, I believe I have a blue botryoidal rock. Any ideas on how much it's worth?

    Looks like a form of fossilized coral to me. If you are serious on value you need better pictures, size and weight. Location of where the material came from also affects price. It is an interesting piece of stone but it also looks like it would be very labor intensive to turn it into jewelry. Still, there could be a good value even as a decorative rock.  nice find

Unfortunately I don't think it's fossilized coral seeing as I found it in the ground in central Wisconsin.

I got a reply somewhere else saying that it was probably Chalcedony.

I can't speak to whether it is coral or not without a closer look.  However, that you need to keep in mind that the glaciers drug rock from all over and dumped it as they retreated.  You can find stuff that is not local in terms of the country rock exposures.  Especially keep your eyes out for diamonds.  It has too many cavities to be very valuable for cutting material.  You might be able to sell it for a display piece as somebody else noted.  The price for "unique" items is typically what you can get somebody to pay.  I know this isn't much help.

Don't sell it, you may never find anouther one like it.
Rocks are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Different areas have different market prices
What is it worth to you? Put that price on it see what happens

    First, are you wanting to sell it? If so, give a weight and size and some close-up pictures for me to see. I collect about anything that is rock. Cutting open or breaking a rock is a quick way to lose all the value in it. This is especially true when it is specimen material and not cabbing material. Put up some better pictures, etc and I would be happy to discuss a price if it is for sale.

   better pictures.....   Well, the color is really hard to make out. Possibly put something in the image with a contrasting color or place the rock on a black sheet. Some close-ups that show the vugs and the surface texture on the rock. Is it a smooth or druzy covered surface? Also, a ruler or tape measure to show the size can also be helpful.  Anyway, that would help and as I asked, are you interested in selling or just a value?  Values are just opinions and dreams until it is time to put up the cash.

That would be beautiful as book ends and polished cut faces too.
