OK, here we go.
Started with two different materials, but one kept breaking till I had to abandon it.
The second is Slag from Bumblehole in England, that was gifted to me last year.

With its flat back, I suppose, It just about counts as a sort of cab. Tusks will be fitted at a later date as I wanna catch up with two other pieces first, and I think the tusks would take it out of contention here.

Thanks for looking, remain with best regards, Kurt

Nice melecan!!!    My sister could not say elephant so she called it melacan. Sorta became a standard word in my family!

I got home early yesterday and was looking through the pile of preforms that I have on the bench (that I am going to finish someday)
Laguna lace agate. The preform was already ground to shape, all I had to do was glue it to a stick
I figured that I just as well enter the contest being the month is almost over

Here's my entry for the contest.  I trimmed a piece from an Ocean Jasper slab that's been beckoning to me for a long time.  The resulting freeform has a polished back and measures approx. 48 x 23 mm. at the widest points and is 7 mm. deep.  It weighs 52.92 ct.

Note: I came back in this morning to substitute new photos for the last three because last night's photos were showing way too purple. The color is somewhere between a light blue and a lavenderish blue. This is light blue / slightly lavenderish blue chalcedony depending on the light. Reportedly from Turkey. It's remarkably flaw free with just a whisp or two of faint white you can see when I hold it up to the light. It's translucent enough to see when there is dark type below it but not quite transparent enough to make out any letters.

Just finished this one... Sneaking in under the wire. I forgot to shoot the pre-form. :Bash:
This is the latest in my collector series of Trent's.
42x35 Tapers from 7mm on the wide end to 5.5mm on the narrow end. Double taper on the girdle and a very low dome polished on both sides.
I love this stuff.

Much obliged folks. Sometimes the material will carry the artist! I voted for Phish, his labor was very evident and I felt him very deserving. I love this group and one of these days will graduate past novice to beginner.
