I bought rough at ... TJMaxx
« on: September 07, 2018, 03:42:52 PM »

It’s not that I was looking for amazonite or druzy or fluorite or tree agate or quartz or giant wands of selenite. It’s just that when I went to buy sheets and pillowcases and pillows and saw lapidary rough instead at TJMaxx, I couldn’t help myself. The fluorite and especially the druzy were very nice, but so large even a hammer wouldn’t have got them down to sizes I could deal with, but the amazonite and tree jasper seemed like I might be able to slice them. The amazonite has that flash. The two pieces together weigh 17 pounds. They appear to come from Fantasia Mining Company in Ohio. The amazonite says it was from Madagascar. These aren’t bookends or objects of art or paperweights. They are truly lapidary rough. I wonder if they will next start selling saws and dop pots 🤷‍♀️.

I have never seen rocks at TJ Maxx.  Guess I'll have to go visit and see if they have any.  Cool score!

I realize I goofed! It was actually Home Goods ( owned by TJ Max and right next door to it, but technically it’s the one that focuses on Home furnishings rather than clothing.)

No worries.  I knew it was the Home Goods part.   :icon_sunny:
