Wanted, 24 inch rock saw Portland, Or can drive to pick up
« on: June 19, 2017, 11:27:19 AM »

Not sure how far I would drive. But if it is a good deal I will drive quite a distance. Boise,  Seattle,  Northern CA....   Price is not the issue, just be reasonable. It has to be a good running or clean restorable 24 inch saw. I could use a 20 inch saw until I find a 24 incher.  I really do not want to buy new, but.....

Check with Tony from Idaho Rock Shop.  He often has a lot of good used equipment around that he sells.

I second that...check with Tony.  I bought my HP 18" saw off him and I love it!!  I would be surprised if he doesn't have a 24" he could sell you.

A 24" Frampton...looks nice but a bit of a drive

This one is an 18"  in Redding and looks to be a custom built and not quite finished but really nice looking...

Here's a 20" Highland park just close to Sacramento

Neil, I have the twin of that 24" Frantom sitting in my shop. Picked it up here in Lane county off of craigslist for $500. They come around now and again. I will keep my eyes open and I am pretty sure something closer and more affordable will present itself.
Did you finish your move to Portland?
Best,
Bill

Here is one local. Lister says it will take a bigger blade.

Might be worth a look.

I have an 18" frantom just like that, it won't take a bigger blade and still have enough oil in it.

Stonemon... Well, I bought the old Frampton in Eugene. No way it will take a bigger blade but it was really a nice saw despite the surface rust. Needs a small tune-up and off to the races.  Working a good lead on the 24 inch I still need...  thank you,  neal

I am you glad you got a saw Neal. I have enjoyed the rough I got from you and know that you will make some gorgeous art with what you cut up...  Good luck on the Covington or whatever you wind up with.
We have kin near Yamhill... Maybe get to look you in the eye someday?
Best regards,
Bill

Well, the like new 24 inch Covington is in my trailer. I hope it survived being loaded...  good help is hard to find.  It and the old Frampton will get tested soon to see if they got tweaked at all during their moves. Both saws have near new blades and the chassis' are excellent. But that Covington had no wheels, was in a small shop with a tiny door to get out and some half crippled guys loading it.....  Hope for the best and know that anything can be fixed. The hard part is over. Except for the part about building my new shop.

thank you all,  Neal
