A few from the last little bit..
« on: November 01, 2014, 06:09:42 PM »

Greetings Everyone!

I have a minute here so I thought I would share a few from the last few weeks and a couple from the past.. I really apprecate Jay and Good Earth for donating recently for the cab comp.. It is a little unnerving though seeing my cabs up there every time I check in.. Apologies if they don't appeal to you.. Neverthess here's a few of the things I've been up to:

Found this little gem in a mix of slabs that I got for pennies.. Saw it any did a double take..

Anyone know what it is?

Here's one of the boulder opals that got me fired up about working rocks nearly six years ago.. This was one of the first rocks I ever cut..

Peruvian Chryschocolla that I simply adored the colors:

An Indian Paint Stone

Plasma Agate that I cut from a slab that I picked up for $1 out in Oregon over the summer.. Surely more of this stuff is out there that someone doesn't know about.

A jade dagger from stock that was sent to a friend straight from New Zealand..

More of the New Zealand Jade and Daggers:

Parrot Wing Jasper 1

Parrot Wing Jasper 2

Metallic Stag Jasper/Cj Strike as Jason M. calls it:

Red Horn Coral from Sandsave (Jay)

Pirahna Agate

Thank you guys and gals for looking or not.. Either way I appreciate it..

Cheers!

Wow what a nice surprise ! A very nice array of stones. You use quite a bit of diversity of style in your cutting and they look very well done. That unknown stone was as bright as cobaltian calcite but the pattern looks like some sugilites.

I agree with Frank, that first one looks like a variety of sugilite.  That purple is the give away with it's intense color.

I adore that Plasma agate!  :headbang:

Thank you Ernie, Frank and Amanda! I agree with you this looks like Sugilite.. It was just weird that it was a pretty small piece that had a lot of grim hiding much of the color.. I got a bunch of slabs a long time ago and didn't notice it till recently.. Seemed interesting..

Here's a set that I worked on last weekend.. I had my brother in law request a stone for a ring when I got this material. He really didn't know what it was, only knew that I was excited when I got it, wanted some too  :toothy10:

Thanks again for stopping to look.

Cheers!

They are all beautiful!  Definitely looks to be sugilite.  Love, love, love the boulder opal!  Koroit doesn't get much better than that with all the squiggle lines.  Awesome stones and they are all beautifully done!  Thanks for posting them.

Thanks for looking Itsandbits.. I agree a lot of this is pretty common stuff.. I really like to move around and don't pigeonhole myself to one particular stone, as I did when I first started. There are so many interesting stones out there and keeping the blinders on and just working one particular type just isn't for me.. I appreciate the feedback..

great stones and fantastic skill! I like em all!

That plasma agate location has re-opened after many years of closure, so I think there will be more material on the market than in the past.

There is a bunch of it available on facebook.   I have some slabs of it from there, looks pretty nice but beware, the red is cinnabar!
