More cast iron
« on: January 05, 2020, 07:47:20 AM »

Recently in Oct my co worker brought a dutch oven to work for me to look at.
His grandmother buried in her yard many years ago with dementia.
How long it was there or why she buried it only God knows.
I hung it in my electrolysis tank and it stayed there until a few days ago.
Last month he brought a #10 skillet she also buried under a bush also rusted.
I dropped that in the tank wednesday and let it bubble for a couple days.

Yesterday was scrubbing & seasoning day. weather permitted me to go outside and light the BBQ
Monday, i return these to my co worker & Bring part of his grandmother back to him.
May not be collectible or worth anything, but they will cook again!

I knew i was going to need a nice long day seasoning these. being do rough on the surface i needed to put many coats on them. each coating of seasoning takes over an hour or so in 550 degree or higher heat.

Those turned out great, Randy!  I bet your co-worker was delighted to have a part of his grandma back.

he hasnt seen em yet, he gets them tomorrow morning.
He lives in and now owns his grandmothers home.
There is alot of things buried he thinks.
One of these days I am thinking of going over & metal detecting the yard with him with my high dollar detectors.
