Not sure of the name
« on: June 01, 2016, 02:01:07 PM »

My dad gave me a small slab of what he called Sergeant's Prizm or Sergeant's Quartz. I attempted to look this up and got no where. I heard someone mention a Chevron Prizm before, but I have not yet saw one. The triangle runs all the way through the entire prizm, from end to end. Anyone ever see anything like it before?

Looks like a phantom crystal cut across the horizontal axis.

That would make sense. Have you ever heard of either name before? Or something else this might be called? Just curious. Either way, I think it's cool. Pink Floyd comes to mind. :glasses9:

that would make a great alcoholics anonymous pendant.

Circle with point up triangle centered.

you make a pendant with that, you know someone with a few years under their belt that earned your respect back, thats the person that should wear your beautiful creation.

Hope this helps!

I could see a pale Chevron Amethyst if it didn't have the Green zone and on Amethyst I would question only 3 sides.  My personal guess would be zoned Flourite.  Flourite's colors tend to be more a match to the image, Green, Purple and Clear.  The corner cut of a Flourite cube would give this pattern.  Can the material be scratched with a knife blade?  Hardness Flourite 4, pocket knife 5, Amethyst 7

That's what I was thinking. Try putting it under a long wave UV light.

Yep, this is Fluorite. I have many of these that came in an estate I picked up several years ago. I thought the same thing about using them somehow for AA pendants. Very cool!

I concur, about it being Flourite.
I also purchased something very similar, but in darker pinks and dark maroons bands back in 2001 at a show.
