Title: Slightly hot, unknown specimen
Post by: R.U. Sirius on April 10, 2023, 06:56:07 PM
I bought an affordable, made in the USA Geiger counter so I can go through my box of Dontknowite pieces I've accumulated over years. Only found this one radioactive specimen, counting in the ~100 CPM range.

Can anyone here make a guess as to what it might be? Looks like there are at least three different minerals in there.

Looks like medium temperature pegmatite feldspars with intermittent uraninite to me. The "rusty" spot is an indicator of isotopic decay.
