Blue jasper
« on: April 14, 2021, 09:44:42 AM »

Was hoping for more contrast with the brown but those were mostly surficial and were ground out during the sphere process.  In an case, here is the blue planet.  I think this may be a lower grade of Blue Mountain jasper from Oregon, it is actually quite hard, it made two club saws smoke in the saw room before I took it home to finish.  4.9" finished diameter; took me 3 solid days of grinding to get into sphere form.

A very pleasant planet! I have encountered very hard sedimentary jaspers out here before, wouldn't surprise me if it was an Oregon material. Looks like it took a nice polish for all that work though!
