Making a ring today
« on: December 21, 2014, 12:08:59 AM »

Decided on South western style. Trying my hand atleast. Just need to set the stones now and polish the heck out of it.
The wings are symbolic to her late grandfather. Benny was a really great person, one of a kind. I miss him actually even though I left his daughter.
My daughter was his life, rest in peace Benny.

Now I see why the native American rings cost so much. So much work goes into them it's insane.

Buffing wheels tomorrow.

That is frustrating, I'm sure you'll fix it and it's going to be beautiful!

Coming along well, just one stone being a bugger.

don't smash it, like you did just walk away and things will go better in the future. I find when I try to force things it just gets tougher and doesn't turn out right and a solution will come when I calm down :)

I wish I had your inspiration for creating things.  Why won't the stone fit?  If it's too big you can always work the size down a little.

When I put the beaded half round wire on, the heat bent the bezel inward halfway up the bezel. Live and learn

I used rogue river Oregon red jasper instead of coral . Don't have coal and I'm broke lol

Sandsave goes out and collects Red Horn Coral, maybe he would be interested in making a trade with you for some.

The ring is really nice!  You are very talented, I admire that.

i think i really like the hardness of the jasper and the variable colors over a solid red.
I almost used red mook porcelain jaspser but i thought the variable colors in the red was a little different so i went with it.

I purposely didnt grind the red to a glass smooth round finish, the rougher polished crowns look awsome i think.

you have it, you see something then just proceed with making it!

I originally was going to make two almost identical rings for my Daughter and who she chose to give the other to. But then that thought of her giving it to her mother (wretched woman) turned my stomach so i made it to only fit my Daughter lol!
