Had to pay $25 for this diamond combo machine. They thought it was in better condition. Going to have to do a little restoration on it too

Other side.
Got this 12” vibrating lap too it’s missing parts. Springs I think. They stuck me for $5.00. They had no idea what it was.

The last post about the saw size made me laugh.

Robin found a "12" inch Lortone on eBay not long after we got married. I scaled the pan in the photos and figured it would fit into the trunk of the '04 Mustang easy enough. So we drove to Payson - a couple of hours away - to get it.

We got there and found out it was 14", and looked a lot bigger than I thought it would. Took it all apart, and it just did fit in the Mustang. Parts of it rode home in the back seat.

The old guy in Payson stood back and watched the whole ordeal. Then he laughed and then said he didn't think we would be able to get it all in there. We got the saw, and he got live entertainment... .

My first slab saw (a homemade version) came with a 10" blade but easily accommodated a 12" once it was examined closely.  Its a sure sign of lapidary economics (often a smaller blade is cheaper and nearly always will fit on a saw when chosen).  If no other pulleys etc are changed you are changing the cutting efficiency of the saw but it usually works (albeit a bit slower cutting rate) and perhaps the requirement for a bit deeper oil for the blade to reach it.

Hi Tony
I thought that too at first
I measured from the center of the shaft to the outside of the blade guard  and it was 6 3/4”. I don’t think a 14” blade will fit.
My sister is all excited to get a bigger saw.

Never saw a Vintage Diamond Pacific unit with a saw built into tha top.  Must be a rare one. Nice find !  I have a later production model and they are made very well.  I love it and use it all the time.  It's a keeper !!!   :icon_santa: :icon_rendeer:

It works great. I have been using the trim saw and tried out the flat lap. I haven’t decided if I was to keep it or rehome it.

My club at American Opal Society or Searchers could use it if you don't need it.  I will take it for a fair price and donate it to one of my clubs if you decide not to keep it. So keep me in mind !  Thanks
