Hi there
« on: April 11, 2019, 07:18:04 AM »

Another Uk member. Working with a home made flat lap at the mo. I've accumulated rocks for years ( like 20 years ) meaning to get around to doing something with them, then about eight months ago finally got round to it. I'm a microscopist by trade - electron microscopes and laser scanners. I have many questions...

Hi and welcome, I am from America's Pacific northwest and knew  a gifted geologist who had a couple of electron microscopes a long time ago. He made a lot of interesting discoveries.Have fun.

Welcome from sunny California.  I have gotten the impression from other members in Europe that getting lapidary equipment there can be quite the challenge.  Of course home made is awesome not to mention a lot more affordable.  I wish I still had access to all the machinery from where I worked I could make some great equipment.

Welcome from eastern Oregon! Europe has a long history of lapidary arts, but I don't think much of it has been updated and sized down for the hobby and private artisan. Best of luck with your homemade equipment!
