I would be stoked if its just a switch issue..that seems like a easy fix..if its the motor shorted out i assume i really am dead in the water til i get a new motor or machine

"probably" just the switch from the description of what happened. Being hot is not a good thing especially if it was running unloaded for a while before you unplugged it though.

I am going to say replace the switch, you should be fine.
If that doesn't work then you probably need to investigate what the problem could be.
And if you have any need of parts, I sure someone on this forum might have something laying around that you need, OR, they will know where you can find what you need reasonably priced.

If you rewire to bypass the switch, that will let you know whether it's the switch or the motor.

Yep yall were right!! My lil brother came over and we took the base off and sure enough just the toggle switch had burned out so should be a easy cheesy fix.. For now ill just have to use the switch on the gfi power strip its plugged to as its on/off and hope that doesnt affect the motor at all. Thank you all for the input and also sorry Frank for calling you almost in tears early this morning!! Lol When it comes to engines or motors of any kind im usually totally lost...

Gregis glad you got it fixed.   My toggle switch on my trim saw broke off last week.   It was always hard to turn on and off and was getting harder all the time.  Wish my brother lived closer to help me out.  You are blessed to have support from yours.
