Could this be hydrogrossular garnet ("transvaal jade")? Cannot show it in photos, but the material just doesn't feel like chalcedony. There's a more waxy feel to it. I'll check the density and come back here.

I posted elsewhere but does anyone have any relatively solid orange slabs available? The orange calcite that I previously tried was more yellow than orange. I havent seen a true orange carnelian. I am looking for slabs to make knife scales so they do not have to be super thick, but that also means being translucent isnt a good quality either.
i have orange beryls if you want

Yep, I have thousands of slabs but am looking for more. I can use those slabs that have nice colors but you just do not see a great cabochon in them.
Jasper or agate is okay.  Colorful is a requirement.  It has to be able to take a polish.  Size and shape are pretty much anything at least an inch wide. These can be waste pieces from material you used for cabbing. Also, heals are fine too.
Cheap is best, but if you have really nice scraps I can spend a wee bit more plus shipping if course.

thanks, Neal

would you like slabs if beryl crystals?

Just saw this post, and ... I think I have a *BUNCH* of chrysoprase that is gemmy...

For background: I have a buddy who was diagnosed with Cancer about 18 months ago, stage 4 on the colon, 3 elsewhere. long and short, going from successful contractor in silicon valley, to cancer patient was gonna take about 10k/month.

I took that on and oof, hard pill to swallow, everyone he knows has chipped in where they can. One of the people through I have no clue honestly but it was something to do with a purchashed storage locker and then some kind of horse trading, in any case he came back with someones rock collection. He never realised how complicated this can be, and my buddy is a rock hound...

So I inherited something to the tune of 5 tonnes of rock collection.

I have done my best to ID things, etc, and have sold a bit of stuff which every bit helps, but it is a big job. I will get pics tomorrow (I would tonight but the boxes with the chrysoprase is in my side yard, next to my boneyard of bikes... it is dark, I am old and like my shins) If it is what I think it is.. anyone know anyone that wants like... 5 5g buckets worth :: laughing::

The colors are from iron just different concentrations  and/or reduction states.
