I also admired Olive Colheur's work Steve.  She was from my era and did wonderful work.  I have lots of issues of LJ from the "good old days" that feature her great artistry. There's lots of talent out there, present and past.

Of course I love the opal carvings, but My goodness, that sunstone is an exquisite piece.. I think she really nailed that one in particular.

Agreed.  That sunstone is amazing.  I have a few pieces of schiller sunstone.  Maybe I'll try to carve one.   :toothy12:

Question for the oldtimers here ... the old lapidary forum site used to have another incredible carver on it who doesn't seem to post here but I can't recall her name. She carved not just opal but also Australian chrysoprase, top quality turquoise, quartz and other materials, often carving women's faces, alien faces or even once an opal native American face with a headdress.  Sheoften cast silver or gold to mould around the faces and in addition to pendants and pins, also made many avant garde small vases and display pieces. Does anyone recall her handle/name? I wanted to look up her pieces again but can't recall.

Was it possibly Debbie K? You could search the archive from the old forum to find images.

Yes! That's her. Thank you both so much! I wanted to look at her pieces again for inspiration!
