Hello, again, and hoping someone can help answer a question about replacing the pillow block bearings on an old HP polisher/grinder machine I'm repairing.  Please keep in mind, I am new to this.  I would like to replace the bearings, but I'm having trouble identifying a proper replacement.  Below is a link to the original ones, which fit a 1" arbor and have about 3 3/8 spacing between the mounting holes.  I do not see a way to replace just the inserts, as they aren't built like the ones I've seen online that can be turned and pulled out.  Also, the inserts I have found cost more than new bearings, presumably.

Would the following be a suitable replacement?  It took quite a bit of time to finally find one that had the same distance between mounting holes.  I measured the distance between the actual holes, but don't know what measurement bearing manufacturers use (this, or center of hole to center of hole, or outside of hole to outside of hole).

Holes are measured center to center.  That sheet metal type does not have a replaceable insert.  The reason inserts are more expensive is quality.  The one you have barely qualifies as a pillow block, but for hobby use it will last a lifetime as long as you lubricate it.

Crystalite has kits of pads that glue onto rubber wheels.  Something can be adapted to your machine.  Look up CRYSTALPAD AND POLYPAD by Crystalite.
