Who am I Rock question.
« on: October 02, 2020, 06:10:26 PM »

I lived in a rock pile with no name, a rockhound grabbed me and now I live in a different rock pile.  I attached my mug shot, who am I?

Please help this orphan rock identify him or herself.

Love the colors. Couple of questions, though. How hard is it? Is it porous at all?

It is hard, a nail will not scratch it, and it made my blades sing during some slab cuts. Some of it has some dendrites as well of a purplish color.  The fractures are all healed and no overt porosity.

I am thinking a jasper at this stage, looks sort of similar to Indian Blanket but there are so many names out there.

Glad the fractures are healed. First guess, like yours, some sorry of jasper. Don't know what kind.

Borders on the colors and patterns of exotica (porcelein jasper)?

Thanks for that ID tip.  I will look further into Exotica.  Always fun acquiring and learning about new materials!

It looks like a slightly less desirable form of exotica jasper.
