How do I change bearings on trim saws?

Do you use an arbor press?
If the shaft is 14" long with 2 bearings on it, how the heck do you do that when the press max working distance is only 4.5"? (the bearings are 5" and 7" from their respective nearest end)

What I have done in the past is put the shaft in a vise opened just enough to not squeeze the shaft but hold the bearing, use emery cloth to make sure there aren't any burrs on it and lub it up good, Take a block of wood put it on the end of the shaft and beat the hell out of it. Crud but works

I tried that, but the shaft had a nurled area where the bearing were sopposed to sit on...the nurling was more than I could pound the bearings onto.
But now that I think about it, I forgot to use any lube.   :Bash:  :Bash:
