Title: lithicbead launched!
Post by: lithicbeads on May 17, 2015, 08:05:29 PM
I can't walk yet but I can enjoy our climbing wall. I take enough weight on my arms to be able to move around fairly freely on my  wall a real pleasure after my usual experience off the wall. I built this wall in our barn over 20 years ago and it is still providing family fun.

that looks fun, but you need a better harness.
That one pinches your arteries in your legs and will cause blood clots.
Only said anything because i care about my friends.

The family that plays together stays together has been something I always lived by. Good on ya'll for staying a close family. How many broken bones between the three of you?

When I was in China my girl friend and her daughter and a friend of hers and her daughter went to a really cool park that had a bunch of strength and balance obstacles that were a lot of fun until I got to the top of this wall. Loosing hand strength rapidly and fear climbing rapidly I launched myself the last two feet which was very difficult because of the rope angle. I sat up there for a while to rest and try to figure out a way down without a whole bunch of little pieces of wood doing some serious damage to my butt. I finally slithered down on my butt and held on to the rope to slow me down and I walked away unscathed. Then I found out that my girlfriend only took this photo so I have no proof.

I sat down to rest and my girlfriend's friend (daughter 13 so 30 something years old) scampered up and down the damn thing like she was a cat. To save face I went over to some young people that were watching and made sure they knew I was over 60.

Jim

I did not make a second attempt. I couldn't do it now because my bad back is making me fat. I have scientific "I think so" that tells me it can not be the Oreos.

That looks like fun and looks warm. Warm would be nice. Over 60 you should get points for just trying these things and not judging yourself against youth.

Good to see you climbing.  Nice wall you built also.

I never got into climbing even though we have some amazing spots to climb around these parts. I have friends who do and they tried to get me to start climbing, but the bug never bit me.  Don't get me wrong, I'd always meet them at the top of the mountain with my backpack on, I just couldn't do any vertical walls to get there.  Their climb would usually equate to several miles of hiking/scrambling for me but we'd end up in the same place.
