Coonhounds
« on: September 02, 2017, 07:56:22 PM »

I have only had black and tan coonhounds for twenty years and my present wonderful dog has to be put down this week. I live on the Washington coast and have had no luck in finding a very young dog or pup of the breed in the northwest states. I am addicted to this breed and was wondering if anyone knows of a suitable breeder or dog in your area. I have no problem driving a thousand miles ( literally ) to purchase one. Odd request I know  but I am running out of ideas.

I will keep a look out to see if anyone has coon hounds available.

Not sure if any of these are of interest to you or not.

Get either a Plott or a Catahoula Leopard. They r versatile and very tough smart dogs!

Thanks folks. I'm sure the related hounds are wonderful also but black and tans have gotten under my skin. This dog laid next to my bed for months when I was paralyzed below the waist repaying the intensive care it got from me when my son rescued it when it was near death from starvation. It has been an interesting ride for both of us.

feeling the waters, lets see what my former hound hunters association has to offer.
I have been on every mountain in Washington chasing hounds, that were chasing game. :LOLOL:

My uncle used to breed some of the best Black & tans and walkers in Washington state.
I mean, top hunting award winning dogs.

Thanks again. I realized that I definitely need a pup as my left hand is hardly working  and I need to train  a young dog to voice commands and not deal with a strong untrained hound.Training an older hound is a job for  someone more healthy as they can be a handful for quite a while.

Thanks very much for your efforts. I am determined to find either a black and tan pup or a bloodhound pup. Dogs keep me young.
