I was out by Ely Nevada elk hunting and I got to do a little rock hunting. Drive up to a spring that was named Red Rock springs. While I was there I figured I would look for the red rocks. I loaded up five good size rocks for spheres. The biggest I may be able to get a 6" sphere out of. The rock is jasper or ryolite. I will figure it out later. Now I need to get ready to leave  for pronghorn antelope hunting.

This is the biggest. Mostly yellow with some cool patterns and there is some red in there but hard to see in the picture

We filled two of the three muzzleloader anterless elk tags. Last year there was 15 tags and only one successful hunter. My daughter had two chances both easy close shots and missed. Some luck and some skill

Nice finds! Our local hunting land opens on Monday, got my first cow elk tag this year. An experienced hunting friend offered to take me out with his family.
Look forward to seeing those spheres!

Elk hunting is great fun you will love it. After you pull the trigger the fun is all over with. A 600 or 700 lb animal it is a lot of work. Good luck and shoot straight!

Haha, I've done that part before! Helped a friend pack out his cow elk already, helped butcher a few times. I can do all the messy work fine, it's the bullet part I'm still new at.
