A good saw day - photos fixed!
« on: October 09, 2017, 02:27:57 PM »

Had a good morning on the saw, until I got hungry and went home for lunch. I may cut again this afternoon, as it's warm and sunny and I finally got my blade aligned properly again.

Thunder eggs:

I slabbed half of one for tabletop material and found a little dendrite!

local jasper:

Petrified wood:

Too fractured to be worth much more cutting, so it'll be a desk rock.

The goal is a coaster. I have a big block of this material from the same hill as the petrified wood, oddly enough, and am experimenting.

The red and orange is solid but the green and yellow on the edges is softer and has some pits.

Some proper cab preforms!

Dodging cracks that only show up once the slabs are dry, of course.

And table progress.

Five more pieces! Two corners done and one replacement piece. I'm hoping the thunder egg matrix will hold together for center bits. It's pretty brittle.

Bonus lizard:

Alright, I put the pics up on tumblr and redid the links. Should work now. Google photo's got a share link but it still doesn't work huh :P there's gotta be a way to make it function.

Can anyone see this photo? It's linked from a shared album this time, not the sync archive.

Ok cool, thanks for letting me know. I'll stick with tumblr image hosting for now. The links expire in a few months but it works in the short term! Can you see the photos in the first post?

How are you planning on finishing the table?  Overhand lap or assemble face down then turn over and clear resin the top?

Face down, clear resin top over the stones and grout. It's not very big yet (think large trivet size). Quite a few are too pitted to take a good polish.
