Thanks all. I'm in So Calif, been interested in lapidary since late 70s  as a high school student. About 10 years ago picked it back up. I like cutting all kinda of rough, esp Welo and Koroit opal, any picture jasper and  agate all kinds. I also use my cabs in silver jewelry that I fabricate.  Thanks for warm welcome. Heading to Quartiste for pow wow this weekend.  Anyone from LA remember The Rock Shack or California Lapidary  in Redondo Beach, or Greigers in Pasadena? That's going way back

I used to go to Ace Lapidary in Van Nuys but not down to LA.  I did used to dive for coins off Redondo Pier in my teens.

Welcome from another Southern Californian.  Griegers -- Oh yeah!  I traded with them for years and ended up carting home lots of stuff when they closed their doors and auctioned off their inventory.  Sad day.  Hope to see images of some of your creations soon.
