Hello From Nevada!!
« on: September 13, 2017, 10:46:12 PM »

Hello everyone!  :hello: I'm Lisa from Stateline, NV. I'm new to lapidary and the sort. I started a couple years ago doing lapidary work and making jewelry. I'm all self taught so I could always use pointers & guidance. I love to rock hounding and hiking. I'm really excited to be a part of this forum. I have so many questions and possibly help identifying some of my rock findings.

Thank you all in advance!

Hi there, and welcome to the forum.

You're in a good location. If you have joined a club, or plan to, you'll have lots of rockhounding fun. Goldfield NV is about 250 miles from Stateline, and Goldfield Jasper/Bullseye Agate is a favorite of many people. Your local club will know of many other good sites and varieties of rough closer to where you live.

I'm still learning how to use this this site, so I appologize in advance if I'm replying incorrectly. I got the gem trails book of Nevada and have been to a few places. Yesterday I was out in Wilson Canyon where there is a fair amount of petrified wood. It was pretty neat. I am not part of a club, but I would love to be. I think the closest one is in Reno, NV. I will be checking that out soon. Thank you so much for the information. ☺️

Hello!!! I can see your house from mine. I'm just on the top of Kingsbury. I have heard of it but I have never been. I would love to become a member. i was out in at the Stone Age rock shop a while back  and the kind lady, who worked there, told me about it. I cannot for the life of me remember when their meets are. Are you a member?

The wood in Wilson canyon is interesting but not lapidary grade, the reno club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at Baldini's casino upstairs. They have a shop on Rock blvd and are always having classes. Lapidary, silversmithing, wire wrapping ect. They do field trips (they are going to the black rock next week)
