Any ideas what mine this may be from?
« on: April 05, 2024, 04:14:09 PM »

Found this 7 lb chunk of vein turquoise in an old collection, and was hoping experienced members might recognize its provenance from the pictures and the following information.

- It was acquired sometime before  1990, and likely in the '70s or '80s.

- No signs of pyrite, nor quartz (except _maybe_ some quartz in one layer of matrix). Just light and dark brown matrix.

- No signs of any treatment, smells like earth.

- Light blue and teal veins, also one pale green vein. Surprisingly hard, glass and steel nail do not scratch it, or barely scratch some areas, quartz of course scratches it.

Any turquoise aficionados? Just going through videos and images from reputable miners and dealers, I guess this might be from the Royston area, or perhaps Pilot Mountain or King Manassa.

I dug similar material at royston but I am not good enough with turquoise to say anything.  What I dug might look the same at a 100 mines.  Beautiful material though, Grats
