I wasn't happy with the picture so I ttied for a better
Shot. I have trouble with the right lighting. One of these days
I will get it figured out. I think this one is better

Had nothing for this month really, but then I just had to try out some new material that was send to me from R2D at the opalforum. Hard as hell to my blade (think Ironstone) when cutting through layers, but nice texture and finish.

Wascoite - which is a layered mix of agate, opal and jasper. That is one of the pieces from the original early 1965 dig (dug out over 2 days, as it was uncovered during a road construction project and the remaining outcrop is now under Hwy 97) near the hamlet of Wasco, Sherman County, Oregon. There was a second deposit near Rufus, Oregon found later, but less opal in the newer material.
