This might be a pisolite of some kind. Perhaps pisolitic limestone?

Yes, same thing. It's just that "oolite" is used for smaller spheres (0.25mm to 2mm), and "pisolite" for larger ones. These in the picture look larger than 2mm.

Either way, those are names that describe the appearance of the rock, doesn't tell us anything about the chemical makeup.

Have you tried polishing it? How hard is it?

I made a cab years ago,  it polished up like porcelain jasper.  Glass finish
