Please help ID my stones
« on: August 25, 2017, 04:48:25 PM »

Any idea what these are? I got them and a lot of other faceted gemstones as payment for a few knives I made. I know there is opal, yellow citrine, aqua marine, and amethyst but the others I am unsure of. 20170825_194345-1.jpeg

Difficult, and often impossible, to determine gem varieties for faceted stones only from a photo, but here are some guesses to get you started:

top row, l-r: could be corundum/sapphires, garnet, spinel or 2 different species; greened "amethyst" or hiddenite; amethyst; axinite, topaz, smoky quartz or ??

middle row, l-r: opal and zircon?; tourmaline, garnet, chrome diopside, etc.; opal or moonstone?, aquamarine?

bottom row, l-r: yellow opal, moonstone?; morganite, sapphire, scapolite, zircon; sapphire, scapolite, zircon; apatite or zircon?; apatite or zircon??

Although more often treated to attain color, the Blue bottom could be Topaz, natural Blue Topaz is rare and very pricey.
