There are a few things that can cause problems on the Covington 24.

The motor mounted on the flimsy leg will cause your pulleys to flex and wear out belts and pulleys, can be easily fixed with a few pieces of angle iron and bolt the legs together. On my 30" I actually moved the motor to an angle iron brace underneath the saw and have not lost a pulley since.

I had a few overheating problems on my 220v motor, I finally traced it down to the wire running to the switch for the shutoff is a 16 gauge wire and should be changed to at least a 12 gauge wire, I changed mine to a 10 gauge wire which is a little overkill but I have had no overheating problems since.

It has been running really good ever since, so it can be made to work well.
