A local rockhound gave this to me to make spheres. It looks like spiderweb jasper that I have only mine is green. After working it I would say maybe a 7 on hardness.

Nah - you're right. Those common opal orbs(?) are what convinced me. We have the green spiderweb rough with those in it.

I think we also have some pieces where the color varies - but none that was consistently brown like that.
