Blue bowl to run concentrates.
« on: May 03, 2020, 12:14:02 PM »

Hi all.  Among all the other at home activities I decided to finally get something to run old concentrates from sluicing.  I never had anything other than the sluice and a pan but the gold I was getting was very small and I found it a pain to try and pan out.  I had 2 gallon bottles of concentrates to go thru but they were mixed mesh so after refining I had about 1 gallon of 30 mesh.  I bought a blue bowl online and set it up.  Not sure if people have used one but I find the water flow control be be an issue.  I have searched online and found a coupe videos of people replacing the ball valve (which is plastic and cheap) for a metal multi turn to open ball valve.  I have yet to do that with not wanting to go to the hardware store yet.  I ran the 30 mesh and I would set the bowl and walk away but as the material (about 8 Tablespoons of material changed shape in the bowl it would speed up and I was getting loss into the catch basin (which I could rerun - closed system no loss) The first pic is what I got from the first run of the gallon and the 2nd pic is what I got running the material a 2nd time.  The pic with blue background was from an 8 tablespoon run.  This gold is very fine.  Something different to do with stay at home.
