Hello from SLC Utah
« on: March 25, 2020, 01:31:47 PM »

I'm new to the hobby and new to the site.  It seems kind of quiet around her but hoping to find and share good info on the whole cutting polishing of stones thing

Welcome. There are a lot of experienced people. What kind of equipment do you have or want to get? And what do you want to make with it? Are there any particular kinds of stones that you like?

A lot of us are older and this spring there is a lot to keep us busy away from rocks. Welcome from the Pacific northwest.

thanks for the welcome.

Felicia, I picked up a used ezcab machine and have a 10"saw.  I'm looking to pick up a big slab saw, 24", if i can ever find one i can afford.  Just looking to slab and make some cabs right now.  Would like to set up for silver smith work but room is an issue.  I may try my hand at some wire work just for kicks and giggles.  I like all kinds of stones.  I've always been drawn to Montana moss.

Here a few of my first attempt cabs.  Most of these are not from great material... I want to get a bit more confident before i use some better stuff.

You have been busy. You said the material wasn't great but some are very nice. It is best to start with the less expensive stuff. You can enjoy the hobby if you're stuck at home.
