So I'm going North next month to view the eclipse.  Going to meet a friend in Boise on the weekend before and we are going to a place he has picked out right in the center of the eclipse path to camp out and await the Monday event.  After the eclipse I am planning on doing some rockhounding and camping as I make my way home over the following week.  My question for you guys is what areas around Southwestern Idaho would be a good place to hit while I am up there?  My friends is not a rockhound so he does not know where to take me.  I know theres lots of great rock around the area, I just need to know where to look.

Any info or links to good sites would be much appreciated.  I'm sure the trip will be a success no matter what, but its always nice to have some local knowledge to help in the hunt.

I am planning on meeting some friends who are rockhounds in Wyoming near Lander for a week.  We are digging some great spots in Blue forest we found last time.  After blue forest we haven't made our minds up on the other days.

You might want to pick up an Idaho guidebook such as Rockhounding Idaho that includes maps and GPS coordinates.

No matter which sites you choose, keep an eye on your fuel tank and carry some extra. Around here, they are telling folks in towns along the eclipse path to keep their tanks topped off and get in food well before the eclipse, as they expect stations and grocers in these sparsely populated areas to run out, and it may take a week or more before new supplies can replenish them.
