I painted these premade ceramic eggs using a wool-painting technique at the Whidbey Art Escape. The undercoat was 3 coats of a lighter color. While the final coat was still wet, I applied the yarn, which was a fuzzy yarn with lots of long thin strings coming off it. Once it was fanned dry, I dabbed multiple coats of the darker color. When the final coat was just dry to the touch but not too dry, the yarn was carefully pulled off. The yarn served as a mask to let the undercoat come through.

Those are some cool looking Easter eggs!  Just in time, too.

So far my goal with these pieces has been to do better than a 4-year old - although I make as big of a mess as any toddler.

The purple egg could have been a stone carved into an egg, even polished.
Too pretty to peel and eat.

I got to watch her make these and mostly behaved.  The purple one was a stunning combination up close. It may seem goofy but  a huge amount of people really enjoy the painting on pottery thing. Whole families with little and /or big kids sit around our hangout and do it for hours. It is usually quite quiet as old and young alike naturally concentrate very hard with the various painting techniques. A real family activity  and yes lots of young dads bring their children in and get some good face time.
