Just purchased 24" frantom. it has an air connection?
« on: September 12, 2019, 07:25:27 AM »

Purchased an old 24" Frantom saw... has a square white hood compared to most pictures I've seen online. I have a question about an air fitting that is on the back of the saw, inside the cabinet it splits off into two copper lines that blow air on each side of the blade, they face towards the front of the machine. Does anyone have any clue what this is for?

I knew a guy who has dozens of saws and all are retrofitted to  evacuate the oil mist after the saw shuts down , they could be for that purpose.

Are you sure they are meant for air?  I do that same thing to carry oil from a cascade filter system to the blade.  In that case the nozzles would be pointed inward toward the blade.

Those are meant to pump oil right onto the blade to aid in cooling.
