Hi all
When it's not too hot to work in the garage (mornings mostly), I've been cutting and shaping about 100 cabs from materials I've collected up, either ine the field or at shows. I decided it was time to finish some up.
The first one is from a thin seam of chrysocolla plume agate I picked up at Steve Ivie's location in the South Cady Mountains. He took us out for a day and I felt very lucky to find a single piece. I ground this down until the picture showed up and had to leave in big and thick at the risk of loosing the picture. My wife says it looks like a family of polar bears walking down a snow covered forest slope.

This next one is from the South Cadys as well. Again it is ground down from a thin piece of seam agate. The white tubes are only on the surface and the chrysocolla/malachite is very shallow also.

This is Marfa plume I collected last year on the Singleton Ranch on a rock hunt with Teri Smith.

Variegated Tiger Eye from a small slab purchased at the Stoddard Wells show. Very translucent and chatoyant. I liked the way it was broken up and healed.

Flower garden from the Walker Ranch collected on the same trip with Teri as above. Colors are richer than it shows.

Love the polar bears, but that marfa plume knocked my socks off! Those plumes look like they're popping out in 3D on the top of the cab. :WEEEE:

tigerseye looks like a canyon and my favorite is the blue one, a lovely christmas scene

They are really quite inspiring. It's like looking into little worlds. You must have a lot of experience cutting.

The first pic with the plumes is wonderful. The tiger eye is almost psychedelic (pattern has my eye jumping all over the place) :grin:

Craig, I thought I posed to this but I guess I didn't, brain a little fried from the trip. Fantastic cabs and liquid polish on all! You should patent the liquid glass dip lol. Top notch as always! Would love to go out for some Sagenite once it cools down.

Thanks everyone! And Absolutely, Steve! "Cools down" are the key words. Even in lovely Spring Valley where I can see the ocean and the San Diego bay bridge, it's 102 and they say we could hit 109 today. Yikes! Hope they don't brown out the power to my AC!

They're all great but that Marfa plume sets off my heart arrhythmia! Fantastic stone. Is it a doublet or does the material have a natural black background? Makes no difference really in terms of beauty.

The background is natural. At the Singleton, there are locations where there tend to be black, white, clear or blue/white backgrounds. I'll post a couple more I just finished with different background colors.

The Black on the Singleton although found in each area The Agate on the Mesa on the North/East side of the ranch has the most black agate on the ranch. People when collecting there have to learn that it can be just a rind and the interior of the stone can be all sorts of things. It can make for some striking cabs as Craig has shown.
