My latest submission for Rock and Gem Magazine
« on: March 05, 2018, 07:34:48 PM »

I just submitted this cabochon for my monthly column in Rock and Gem Magazine. It is made from Stone Canyon Jasper and Lapis lazuli. The Lapis is embedded into the Jasper piece.

It looks yummy! Lovely piece. Did you rivet it in place underneath somehow or use glue?

Great looking piece, bob!  I love the organic shape you put on that Stone Canyon.

Drilled a hole in the jasper with a diamond ball bur and used an inverted cone shape to make the seat. Then I used a barrel bur to get the exact fit before gluing the stone into it.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this was some abstract version of the lapel they wear in Star Trek.
I love the contrasting color theme you have in this.
