On thanksgiving, i got a text from my Biological daughter.
Hapy thanksgiving, followed by a long long long blank space i had to scroll and scroll and scroll to the bottom to read. down there it said the simple word.......... Grandpa.
This brought me out of a year long slump in Lapidary period.
I hadnt made anything at all, i sliced rocks yes, but the rocks wouldnt talk to me or show me anything they wanted to be.
A long time ago i had Turkish blue agate rough imported from my friend in Turkey (mustafa Gundaz) on facebook.
I shaped a piece into a heart and straightened up the edges, but thats as far as i got with it. i lost my vision.
(god knew otherwise and wanted me to save this project for later)
So, i make alot of themed pieces when i make pendants.
As a parent, you can hold onto your children with an Iron grip, holding as hard as you can and they wont get away.
But, just by existing, your Children have a stronger hold on your hearts than you can grab and hold onto them with physically (as a parent).
I put this thought into silver & stone.
Here it is.

Nice old man!

Lovely idea. I have a granddaughter, 18 old, that loves months jewellery so will be thinking on something similar when she is older.
Thank you for sharing this.

That us so cool and appropriate!

That is so beautiful, even more so because of the wonderful story behind it. Congrats, Gramps!

Neat piece and really special with all the love it holds. You're soon to be doubly blessed.
I'm hoping that my 16 year old daughter eventually starts to like jewelry so that i can start making pieces for her. That would be kool.
