sample boxes for sale
« on: May 14, 2017, 03:32:43 PM »

I've put together a few boxes of varied material for sale to members.  If you are looking for a sampling, this might be a place to start.  I'll mark the rocks with their names before they are sent.  This is not an auction.  They will sell to whoever sends a confirmation of intent.  If it works I'll put more together later.  The first box is 26 pounds and will be sold for $90 including shipping.  The second box is 24 pounds and will sell for $50 shipped.  For size comparison, the deck planks are 2 x 6.  In other words, 5 1/2" wide.  Photos taken wet in bright sunlight.  The first photo in each box was taken to show what I believe is the best side and then all rocks were flipped 180 degrees except for the turritella in the second set turned 90 degrees.
Pictures below are the $90 box.  I'll put the other one in a second post to keep enough detail int the shot.  If anyone would like a larger file size, just email me.

Robin and I bought a box like this and received it on Saturday. We were interested in getting a variety of rough we had never tried before, and boy was it fun going through that box.

For roughly $3/lb plus shipping we got some very nice rough from all over the country. I personally don't think you can go wrong buying an assortment like this from a trusted source. Ours was good.

Here's a photo of the only unidentified rock in our box. Slabbercabber labeled them all before shipping.

Translucent areas - especially toward the bottom - would lead me to call this some type of agate.
