Rules:
1) Cab must be made by you.
2) Cab must be made within the time period of this contest.  Contest begins on the first of the month and ends on 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the month.  NO pulling old cabs from your storage baskets!
3) As long as the basic shape is considered a cab it's golden.  You can enter intarsias and carved top cabs such as cameos etc.  After all, this is the OUTRAGEOUS cab contest!  We love free form cabs!  Pull out the stops and give us the best you have!
4) One entry per person please!
5) Please show photos of your slabs and preforms if you can so we can see your thought process and how you did things.
6) No finished jewelry pieces.  Just the cab.
7) Cab sets are OK.
8) This is only for bragging rights and your cabochon photo posted up top in the forums unless someone posts a lapidary related prize and wants to ship it to the winner of the contest.

I'll start it off with a slab to cab of an unknown picture jasper I got from a collection I just acquired.

A prize for this month's contest winner. 

I'm donating some of the slabs from material I picked up from my recent rock hounding trip to Oregon.  Not bothering with photos, but a link to a video of all 5 slabs is below.  Include will be:

1. Mahogany lace obsidian - Glass Butte
2. Gold sheen mahogany obsidian - Glass Butte
3. Pink/peach and white plume agate - normal thickness - from near Graveyard point
4. Pink/peach and white plume agate - thin slab - may want to back with translucent stone or reflective material
5. Succor Creek thunderegg slab

All of this material polishes very well.  Pitting is very minor if at all.

Yea it looks like I wanted to or close so I am in. Thanks to all that posted in the photo section. This the first light box pics and is still under construction. I ran out of ink before I could print another background page.

Second is thanks to John for this piece of wonderstone. Sorry John still learning about pics.

This stone has a higher gloss finish than the pics show. I was so happy to learn how to post pics that I forgot a pic of the rough.

Sorry about that I will get it but not today.

I was able to sneak out to the shop today and grind out a piece of Blue Mountain Jasper that I have been looking at for a couple of weeks....

Almost missed the deadline. I was cutting Mookaite to make a sphere and thought I'd try a piece for the cab contest this month. It's hard to get a clean cab without having to do a little filling first, I almost pulled it off.
First pic is the a slab, the bottom right hand corner caught my eye. A detailed pattern on the bottom corner  and then all the colors blended together above.

Please PM me if you would like me to take family photos next year! lol

finally finishing my blue turkish agate, it had holes which i drilled into it so im not going to add it into the contest.
I should have finished it before drilling, but i didnt lol!
No sense in finish polish before holes are drilled, sometimes the cabs break.
