Wow!  Those colors are fabulous!  I would be outside just staring in amazement at that every day.   :occasion14:

I grew them from seed. The red one is about 20 feet tall and as wide. Just behind it out of the picture is a 30 foot tall striped bark maple I also started from seed. Out in my woods across a difficult deep ravine is another  spectacular  Japanese maple that is getting moved in the next month to go in front of the kiln shed. We are going to clear brush to make a path through the woods for the balled and burlapped tree and then lower it by rope down one side of the gully and then pull it up the other side. It will then hang from my tractor bucket for the 600 foot ride to where it will be a centerpiece. Some 10 foot rhododendrons are going around the shed as well. I have been planning this for 25 years. The seed came from various gardens owned by the Queen of England. Her permission was not solicited.

Awesome story.  Your kiln shed is going to be quite beautiful when you're through.  I'm contemplating different tree types for the front of our property where we had to get rid of 2 old and dying cottonwoods (yuk!).  That may have to go on the list.
