Tumbling Grits
« on: October 06, 2016, 11:39:15 AM »

I have some tumbling grits labeled 3F and 4F. How do these designations relate to the 220, 400 and 600, etc grit system?

I'm bumping this old thread because I'm curious too.  I have some 4-F grit I've used over the years and need to replace it soon but don't know what size to buy to match it.  Any info out there?

I'm curious about this too.  I wonder if the 'F's' are similar to the F system of black powder grain size in muzzleloading...

I am clueless on this subject, but I did a search and I found this link.  I don't know if this is helpful or not since it was a woodworking forum.   :dontknow:

Thanks for that!  I've searched and searched for an answer to the point it's become a challenge.  Congrats for finding this clear explanation.

Thank You! I have been searching for a long time for this info. I have Pansy Kraus's book but I haven't read it thoroughly. Finally the answer!
