selling on ebay?
« on: March 16, 2018, 08:03:05 PM »

ebay seems to really be headed downhill lately.  Etsy not any better. don't have cell phone, so can't get on instagram. So, anyone know of any good selling sites other than these? I have good lapidary sales on ebay, but their software changes, 20% sales bite, etc are really getting to be bad.
Thanks!

I use Ebay as a gateway.  I put contact info and links to my other sites with each sale.

I think Michael has it right.  Make your own website and direct people to it on ebay, etsy, pinterest, forums, etc.

I was on Ebay this week looking for a non-rock related item.  Got a virus.  Never going on there again if I can help it.  It's too bad, really.  Ebay in it's heyday was a fun place.

Just looked at Instagram.  You can get the app for a PC.  Don't need a cell phone.

My best sales for top grade cabochons and pendants still come from my website. BUT....  I get really good contacts from ETSY. E-Bay is where I sell my excess material that I do not have time to use, etc.  Bottom line is having quality items with very good photos. I am also looking at starting a blog on GoDaddy or joining a jasper blog of some type.

I still use ebay, but, I also join groups that sell on FaceBook.  I buy/sell model trains and have joined several sites that sell.  I have not joined any groups that sell Lapidary, yet.  I have sold a number of items not related to Lapidary on Craigslist but I am very careful.  Yard Sales ?? Not sure they would be very lucrative as everyone is looking for really nice items at really low prices and you don't reach to many people, mostly cheapskates.

Phil, check here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/instagram/9nblggh5l9xt?activetab=pivot%3aoverviewtab

FYI it requires Windows 10 as the minimum OS and won't work with my old Win 7. Thanks for the link though: I'll use it when my computer guru says it's time to upgrade.
